Piggle babies!

I am sure that most of you have already seen the pictures, but heres the story!

I like looking at the cute animals on craigslist, and i had been looking for some rodents for a while...i thought at first that i wanted rats, but that never seemed to work out quite right. Rats are expensive here on the island, if you buy them at the pet store they are like 10.00$! They dont use them for feeders here, since there are no snakes on the island, i assume you are not allowed to have snakes as pets. Anyway, i found this guy on craigslist that was giving away guinea pigs. At first i wrote to him in hopes of having one or two little pigs. He replied to my email and said that his landlord was coming over and he had about FORTY pigs that he needed to be rid of right away! I was like umm...well  maybe not that many, but i bet i could take about ten! So we went to meet the guy in the next few days, he brought a big box of baby guinea pigs. We picked out the ones we wanted, i think we ended up with about 12. We could have had as many as we wanted, but do you know how much 12 guinea pigs EAT??? They are so cute though, right now we have them all out in our yard under the overhang of the roof so they dont get wet when it rains. We have them seperated into girls and boys, so we dont end up with 12 thousand of them. We feed them all kinds of stuff, they are vegetarians so they like grass and apples and sometimes carrots. Lettuce is their favorite, but they love grass too.(cheaper than lettuce!) I think that i am going to start giving away a few of them, 12 is a few too many. They are fun to watch play together though, and all trying to eat out of one bowl! I dont have any videos of them yet, that will be next though. I do have some cute pictures that you can see though.
This is my moms favorite little pig, she dosnt have a name yet. She is tiny, or she was when we first got the pigs. They are growing already, we have had them for almost a month i think...

This is them waiting nicely for their turn at the water bottle. Haha, pigs are not so nice at times, they fight over things. GR
This guy looks like he has had plenty water, he is soaking wet!
Moms favorite again. There will be many pictures of this one. For some reason i keep trying to spell that word as "Pigtures"....
Here you can see the postal box that they had in there for a while until it got wrecked. The apples that they like to eat...
Aww how cute, they are sharing.
They like apples better than carrots for some reason.
i like this picture because it looks almost artistic, even though it was just the camera focusing on the wrong thing,
 Yum, grass!

One time i saw a couple of pigs do that lady and the tramp spagetti thing, where one pig had one end of the grass and another had the other end and they were both eating it. That was funny.:)

The elusive black pig, dosnt seem to be many pictures of this one, he is cute though.
What cuties! This is the lineup, everyone comes out when they hear food.

Two piggles on the girls side, the one on the left is the biggest one of them all.

 Moms pig again.

This is patches, he is one of my favorites, also one of the few who has a name! :)

This is Mouse, he is albino, completely white with little pink eyes!

They are supposed to be vegetarians but they like to taste people sometimes. haha :)

This guy is one of the calico ones, hes got lots of colors on him.
I think that is most of them, now you met all my new little pets! They are just babies for now, i will keep posting pictures as they grow up. They are pretty friendly, they dont really want to be picked up but once you catch them they just sit there. Stay tuned for updates on these guys! :)

This blog was lost, but now is found.

Hello readers!
it has come to my attention that this blog has been being neglected!
So hereafter i will start posting again. I have been on break from college and have been writing some things and posting them elsewhere, maybe i will come back and post here again, now that i realize this exists...
Anyway, i am alive and well, trying to get myself excited for the new semester. I am going to be taking some fun things this semester, have to focus on the good stuff! Cant focus on the not so good stuff, like having to wake up at 5 in the morning. haha. I am super excited to be taking watercolors , i think that is going to be such a fun class. I am not sure exactly how its going to work yet, but i will be sure to let you know! I have almost the same schedule as i did last semester, just different classes. I am taking speech, sociology, watercolors and a hawaiian studies class. I think these will all be pretty fun classes, the ones i am looking forward to the most are speech and watercolors. I found out that i enjoy speaking in front of the class, and that i have no problem with that. Thats why i am taking speech this semester, plus i think its a requirement for my major anyways. So that will be fun. The husband of my psychology teacher last semester teaches a speech class but i didnt get to be in his class this time. I think he teaches public speaking or something slightly different, so maybe next semester i will get to be in his class.
The title of this blog post is a reference to the song Amazing Grace, that interestingly enough i was singing and listening to the other day. Isnt it funny how life seems to tie itself all together sometimes?
I am excited to get this blog back on the road, brush some of the dust off and get posting!
Anyways, thanks for reading, i am supposed to be feeding my dogs, so i have to go now! I will write more later!

I have a few people who are in more than one of  my classes.
I  am getting to be more outgoing and talk to people more....
ugh i am so tired, i got home at like 6 something last night and by the time i ate and checked my facebook and email and whatnot it was like 8 o clock lol
i am used to going to bed when the sun goes down!
So this having power in your house and getting to stay up later is tiring.
But i had important artichokes to harvest on Farmville....
Stay tuned for pictures, im gonna try to get my own camera.
That way i can take it to school and everywhere with me.

Thrift store findings cont???

More thrift store findings? UGH!
O.K but only two more things.
I got these on the same day as the other stuff but didnt get a pic of them up until now.
They are two little backpacks, one is a bear and one is a duck.  I have a weakness for little fuzzy animal shaped backpacks....and they are so expensive! I have seen them at the mall and its like 30.00$ for one that looks like a turtle or something! So im like no way. So this is what they look like.

The bear is just a random bear,  but the ducky is apparently named Pekkle, and is a character of Sanrio. Interesting. It makes me wonder who had a teddy-bear one day and was like hey this guy is cute....i think im gonna gut him and store my belongings in his empty intestinal cavities! Morbidity aside, i think these guys are so cute. I take the teddybear one with me as a purse, havent tried out Pekkle yet though.

Excitement

Sorry for not posting for a few days, i was gone away from my internet for the weekend.  Nice to have a break but good to be back!!
SO i had an eventful weekend, i met a new friend. We were talking, and she was a digital arts major in college. This intrigued me because i am taking a digital arts class at college this year (school starts tomorrow by the way...) and i have been interested in it for a while. We continued talking, and shes like oh and i have this thing called a tablet.....and im like ooh! I always wanted one of those. She said she didnt know if she brought it with her when she moved.I was like whoa if you have it, i would totally buy it from you. So anyway, long story short, i am getting a tablet for 50$. She said she bought it new for 100$ and im like i will give you 50 for it.....
she would take less, but i mean, i dont know what to pay her for it , really. I always wanted a tablet, i am so excited about this!!
Now all i need to get is that computer to hook it to haha......
I am thinking of getting a camera too. I enjoy taking pictures, and had a camera on my phone. But i didnt have any way to put the pictures on my computer, so that was really annoying.....i have no idea how much it charges me to text pictures to like my email or something. So i have decided to get a camera. Even a cheap digital camera will be better than the cameras used to be, with all the megapixels and whatnot that they have now. So, shopping for a digital camera, dont know what im getting yet.

Oh Whoa, sock monkey.

So I am still figuring out this putting pictures in blog posts thing but I got the pictures for the sock monkey festivities downloaded to my computer and ready to upload.
I totally just remembered that i was supposed to show you the pictures of all the sock monkey business. So lets see if i can figure out how to.....

Ah , there we go. this was my sock selection for the monkey making.  Most of them are just one sock, but some of them are pairs, and or socks that are kinda matching colors.

These are the socks i decided on, along with the scissors that will be used to mutilate them.
Since sock monkeys are generally made from socks that are like longer in the ankle area. I think i remember saying this already. But now you can see what i mean better. They are like short in the ankle area, but theres two pairs so we will use the other part of the sock instead.

This is my bag of stuffing, sewing machine, Chosen Socks, scissors, and non chosen socks.....

And now, we skip a ton of steps and have the finished monkey!!
As you can see i improvised with the legs, and they turned out okay. Overall not the best ever, but really i am not a seamstress haha. This is the new monkey with my monkey my dad gave me , thusfar unnamed. They were fast friends.
So that was my monkey making experience that day....

Thrift store findings Cont 3.

I got so  many things at the thrift store the other day that it is taking me so many posts to tell you about all of it. So the next thing that i got was this awesome bracelet. I love rainbow, so when i saw this rainbow glass bead bracelet i was like oh yeah , i have to have that. It is rainbow without being tacky, and pretty without being too gaudy. Its not really rainbow, its just a bunch of different colors of oblong glass beads on it. But it is really pretty, i had to show it to you. The best part was that i paid 2.00$ for it! What would i do without thrift stores, huh? I had bought all my stuff already and then i was like wait, whats that? They took it out of the case for me and i was like oh yeah i totally have to have that. They glass beads are on two sets of elastic string like stuff, so its kind of a one size fits most kind of a deal. I have kind of fat wrists compared to more petite women....i think i am one of those legendary "big boned" women. I am tall too though so its okay. Anyway i am putting up a picture of this awesome bracelet that i found. It has some of my favorite colors in it too. Lime green, kind of a emerald green. It needs purple, but it has some nice blues in it too.

Thrift store findings Cont. II

Three posts later and i still havent documented all of the things that i found at the thrift store!!!! So the next thing was another Beanie Baby dog. This one is one of the mcdonalds ones, i dont know if it is older or not. Im not sure when the last Beanie promotion at MCD was....
Anyway this little guy is really cute. He, or maybe she, is a little brown chihuahua with a little fuzzy pink ruffle around her neck. Her name is pico. It sounded like a spanish word so i looked it up and it says like beak or informal for mouth. So maybe the idea was a yappy little dog? lol This one is the miniature one, but i looked up the picture for the full size one, very cute too. Definatly on my list of Beanies that i want.  She came new in the bag, but i took her out of it. I would rather enjoy her than just let her sit in the bag in the bottom of a drawer forever. I collect them to enjoy them and look at them, not stow them away where noone can see them.
I am thinking of putting up a few shelves in my room to store my collections on, most of the surfaces that i have already are full! My bed is also covered with stuffed animals and stuff.

Thrift store findings Cont.

I found some other cute things at the thrift store too. I love Beanie Babies, and my favorite was always the dogs. As you might have noticed, i am a total dog person. I love all animals, but dogs are my favorite. In my Beanie Baby collecting days, i had so many of the dogs. In those days, i bought them new, and they were so expensive! They were like 5.00$ each!! It was crazy....i dont even want to think about how much money i spent on beanies. But nowadays they are a lot cheaper....I tend to buy them for like 50 cents each now. I like to think i am making up for some of the money that i spend on all of those 5.00$ ones so long ago!!
I would like to find some of the ones that i used to have before. I had a ton of the dog ones, but my favorites were the collie and the airedale. I would like to get those again mostly, but there are a few others i am keeping an eye out for too. I liked the one German Shepherd, i dont remember what his name was...
Anyway, the Beanie Baby that i found this time was so cute. He isnt one of the ones i had before but he is so adorable. He is a little black puppy, i assume a lab or something. His name is Luke. He is way cute, he even has a little black and white ribbon around his neck. He was like 50 cents at the Salvation Army, and hes pretty much new. His tag isnt even bent or anything. I know i might be considered childish by some, but in a way stuffed animals are my hobby. I know there is tons of adults out there that collect beanies or stuffed animals. They make me happy, who can argue with something that makes you happy?

Thrift store findings!

After my post the other day i was inspired to go to my local thrift store. It is a Salvation Army store. It is funny because it is called The Sally Shop, and has a sign that says that on the store. So everyone is like Oh did you go the Sally Shop? and im like uhh the what? But yeah, it is one of my favorite store. So i went yesterday, to check out the treasures i could find. I had to take the bus , and i have my backpack, so i cant buy anything thats too big. Although once i bought a giant stuffed dog and they didnt mind when i took him on the bus. My room is decorated with dogs, so i am always on the lookout for cute stuffed dogs or dog related items. This time i found some dogs and some other things. I totally need to get the pictures going with this stuff here, im going to try to take some today, and do a few updates of this stuff. So i bought this awesome kleenex box cover thing with little dogs on it. It has like 101 Dalmatians on it or something, and it says disney so i think its 101 Dalmatians. It looks like its kinda older, the plastic looks kinda old. But i thought it was awesome because i bought it for 50 cents and there is a jcpenney price tag in it for 22.00$ so im like wow, someone paid 22.00$ for this? But for 50 cents definitely i will take it! So thats way cute, i will put up a picture of that.....

365 Dresses Blog

Hello blog-readers!!
I am relatively new to the world of blogging, i am used to just writing articles. But i have read a few peoples blogs before. I was never really interested in them , because they all seemed personal and something one would only be interested in if they knew the blogger personally. But then i found this blog. It is called New Dress a Day, and it is so me! It so sounds like something i would do. The blogger, Marisa, has this project to (re)make 365 dresses in a year, with a budget of 365 dollars. Basically she goes to thrift stores and second hands and garage sales and whereever, buys these nasty hideous dresses and refurbs them to make cute outfits to go out in. Its a awesome idea, and is just right up my alley. My favorite is the before and after pictures on her blog, thats what makes the blog. It reminds me so much of things i have done before, but on a bigger scale. I have been known to make dresses out of sheets and pillowcases, and to cut up clothes that i dont like to make something more wearable. But Marisa does it so well! I am basically a beginning seamstress (took some concentration to not use the word sewer...) and most of my projects come out looking kinda odd. I think i will stick to the sock monkeys , and leave Marisa to her 365 dresses! Great Job Marisa!

Sewing

Hello!
Right  now i am on a bit of a sewing binge! I always collect things to sew but i never really get around to doing it! I have a ton of brightly coloured socks that are just begging me to make them into little monkeys.....
The socks are a story in themselves!
So ok, you know when you go to the store to try on shoes? They usually give you those lame little nylon stocking type foot cover thingys to put on before you put your shoes on right? Not here. At this store they have a box labeled "Try On Socks" , filled with different kinds and colours of socks. So go there and try on shoes, you find yourself with a lovely new pair of lime green socks. Or something similar. Because of coarse, you cant put used socks back in the try on box.....ew, right?
So you get to take them home and make monkeys out of them.
And of coarse i pick up cute socks other places too. There is this place that i call the dump store, that i will tell you all about in a later post.
So right now i am digging through my sock bin to find the perfect sock for the first monkey. I am making a friend for my little pink monkey, not made by me but he is like the cutest monkey ever. He was a gift from my dad.
Anyway i am thinking of a multicolored "Rainbow Monkey" this time. I have made monkeys before, some of the brown sock sort. This time I just bought a bag of stuffing just for this purpose. I got the cheapest Walmart Stuffing. It was like 3.00 for a 12 oz bag. The hardest part is choosing the socks. Traditional sock monkeys are made out of socks with long ankle parts, so to speak. So these little shorty socks that everyone wears now take a bit more imagination to construct monkeys from. And of coarse. more socks. I will post when i choose my socks, and get ready for pictures too, they are coming!
